Data released by the National Energy Administration (NEA)
shows that total electricity consumption in February was 386.3 billion kWh, a
22.9% year-on-year increase. The cumulative electricity consumption in the
first two months of 2012 totaled 749.7 billion kWh, a 6.7% year-on-year
increase.

In January and February, electricity consumption in the
primary industry decreased 4.7% to 12.3 billion kWh; in the secondary increased
4.8% to 531.6 billion kWh; and in the tertiary increased 10.3% to 94 billion
kWh. Electricity consumption for urban and rural residents increased 14.9% to
111.7 billion kWh.
Electricity consumption rebounded in February 2012; growth of residential electricity
consumption remained stable
