The
China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC) announced yesterday that as of
January 2012, the assets of financial institutions totaled CNY 111.62 trillion,
up CNY 99.5 billion from December 2011. January marked the sixth consecutive
month with increase in the total assets.

In
January, the total assets of major commercial banks and other types of
financial institutions increased month-on-month, while total assets in
joint-stock commercial banks and city commercial banks decreased
month-on-month.
Banking sector: total assets in January at CNY 111.6 trillion, an
18% year-on-year increase.
