According
to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the consumer price index (CPI) was
4.5% year-on-year higher in January, up 0.4 percentage point from December.

Food
inflation rebounded to 10.5% year-on-year, up 1.4 percentage points from
December. Meanwhile, non-food inflation decreased by 0.2 percentage point, and
landed at 1.8% year-on-year.

The growth
of producer price index (PPI) recorded a 26 month low at 0.7% year-on-year,
down a whole percentage point from December.

Figure from January shows that the YoY growth of CPI increased for the first time since July last year, while PPI growth continues its steep fall. Food inflation remains high, adding inflationary pressure.
