On
February 8, statistics released by the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) state that
the continuous upward trend in the prices of the key edible agricultural
products ended last week (from January 30 to February 5), following the Spring
Festival holiday. Major products such as vegetables, pork and eggs had their prices
reduced to varying degrees since late November.

Meanwhile,
the Wholesale Price Index of agricultural products released by the Ministry of
Agriculture has also dropped.

The upward
pressure on food prices is subsiding following the Chinese New Year. Pork price
drops while beef and mutton prices continue their upward climb.
