As the
year is coming to an end, the GDP data of different regions are being publicized,
showing strong growth numbers in the Western and Middle regions. It is likely
that Chengdu and Wuhan will be among the top 10 cities measured by GDP, while
Hangzhou and Qingdao may fall out of the top 10 rank.

In the
first half of this year, Wuhan and Chengdu ranked the 9th and 11th with
regional GDP of CNY 322.16 billion and CNY 310.76 billion respectively. In
addition, Chengdu recorded highest national GDP growth with 17.8%.

In
2010, the top 10 cities measured by GDP were Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou,
Shenzhen, Tianjin, Suzhou, Chongqing, Hangzhou, Wuxi and Qingdao, among which
only Chongqing is in the western region. Wuhan and Chengdu ranked 12th and 13th
respectively.
