China Increases Holdings of U.S. Treasury Securities by USD 25.6 Bn in April - May

+       According to data released by the U.S. Department of the Treasury on July 17, China held a total of USD 1.17 trillion U.S. treasury securities at the end of May, USD 25.6 billion more than at the end of March.

Holdings of US treasury securities increased in April and May. US treasury securities accounted for 35.39% of China’s foreign exchange reserves in March.

China’s Holdings of US Treasuries up 12.7 Bn in Feb

+       Data from the United States Department of Treasury shows that China held USD 1.18 tn worth of treasury bills and bonds in February, up USD 12.7 bn from January. This is the second month in a row with slight increase in treasuries holdings.
+       By the end of March, China’s foreign exchange reserves were USD 3.31 trillion, up USD 123.9 billion from December 2011.

Dec 16 - China Cuts Holdings of U.S. Treasury Debt by USD 14.2 Billion in October

+   China held a total of USD 1.13 Trillion of U.S. treasury debt in October, USD 14.2 billion less than the USD 1.15 trillion in September. In the previous seven months, China only reduced its U.S. debt holdings in August and October.
+   China remains the largest buyer of U.S. debt.
